What are Hopi Ear Candles?

 

 

Thermo-Auricular Therapy or ‘Hopi Ear Candles’ can be  a relaxing, soothing and calming treatment.  Benefiting people with a wide range of problems generating from the ears, nose, throat and head.

It is believed that the Candle was used as far back as Ancient Greece and latterly, by the native American Hopi Indian of Arizona, known as the ‘People of Peace’.  The Hopi Indians are known for their spiritual and ancient healing arts and through their use of the candle it has reached the Western World.

The candles are made from organic cotton which has been dipped in a solution of honey extracts, pure beeswax, sage, camomile, St. John’s Wort and Vitamin A.

Ear wax is formed through secretions from two types of glands called ceruminous and philosebaceous.  Wax contains skin dust and other foreign matter and fatty acids which help protect against fungal and bacterial growth.

    When the candle is placed in the ear and lit, it gently and slowly releases the vapours from the oils, which are then drawn into the auditory canal, oscillating and softening any impurities.  Heat from the candle stimulates blood and lymph circulation and aids stimulation of energy points and reflex zones.
